How To Prepare For A Lifestyle Session
In preparation for your shoot & while making your shot list and gathering props, consider these things…
With lifestyle sessions for your business, I want you to try and think of how you will be using these images to support your brand/business. So for example..
What do I want to talk more about or present on social media this next year or next few months? What materials or imagery will support those conversations and my brand? Bring those props, books, materials, etc. The more options here the better!
Colors. Choose clothing and materials as best as you can that compliment/match your brand. Be sure to send me any branding material you have before your shoot!
What makes you stand apart from others in your business, what makes you unique? Let me know so we can create together to show this off!
Your Pinterest board can also include images that “feel” like what you want your images to feel like!
Props & Materials
Bring anything you think would help support your business within imagery! I always recommend bringing more vs less, we definitely don’t end up using everything, but the more options the better!
Clothing
Depending on the length of your session, the amount of clothing you bring will vary a bit, but same rule applies here, bring more vs less so we have plenty of options & variety.
Accessories are always great additions! Hats, jewelry, etc.
You want to aim to keep you clothing on par with your brand and branding colors! When these images go up on your website, you want them to compliment your colors, designs and font, and the same goes for your social media pages. The colors don’t necessarily have to match completely, just compliment your colors.
I aim to make the most out of your shoots and give you a good variety within one session, so we will change up your outfits as much as time allows to provide some good variety for you!
Hair, Makeup & Nails
Hair & makeup are personal preference in my experience and sometimes depends on your brand and what kind of shoot we will be doing. I always leave this one up to you!
Nails! This one is very important if you or your models will be holding products. Get those nail done or if you are skilled enough, do them yourself! You will want your nails to look nice in those up close photos!
Shot List
When creating your shot list, make these as detailed as you’d like and get specific! This applies a heavily for product photos.
Prioritize your list starting with the must haves. You can add a section where it list shots you’d like if time allows.
